Highland Community College Upward Bound is a federally funded pre-college program designed to help students succeed through high school and continue on to college.
If a student is serious about academics, is committed to going to college, and neither parent/guardian in the household has a four-year degree, Upward Bound at Highland College in Freeport may be just the right program. The student will learn about the college entrance process, how to write scholarships how to prepare for the ACT test, and learn team building and leadership skills through diverse friendships with peers from five different schools. In addition, Upward Bound offers tutoring, plus a rigorous summer program, coupled with an exciting weeklong college/cultural trip. There is no cost to candidates selected to participate, and transportation is provided for most activities.
